AtoB fuel card review (2026)

By the Owner Op Stack editorial teamPrices checked How we rank

Quick answer

AtoB is a Visa fuel card that works almost anywhere and states an average discount of 42¢/gal on truck diesel at its partner truck stops. Owner-operators can pick AtoB Unlimited (prepaid, approved regardless of credit score, $3 per active card a month) or AtoB Flex (a credit line, $15 a month for 1–5 cards, needs 3 months of revenue). Both cost $35 to set up.

Key takeaways

  • Average discount: 42¢/gal on truck diesel and 5¢/gal on unleaded at AtoB partner stations, based on AtoB customer transactions in H2 2025.
  • AtoB Unlimited (prepaid): $3 per active card per month, instant approval for most applicants, no bank info needed.
  • AtoB Flex (credit): $15 a month for 1–5 cards, then $3 for each active card after the 5th. Approval takes 1–7 days with proof of revenue.
  • Both: $35 setup fee, $0 transaction, out-of-network and administration fees in AtoB’s own comparison, monthly Experian reporting, IFTA reporting.
  • Optional AtoB Premium adds FuelMap, card unlock and telematics controls for $3 a month.

What stands out

  • Fees are published, which many fuel cards don’t do. One truck on Unlimited pays $3 a month after the $35 setup.
  • Works anywhere Visa is accepted, so you’re not stuck when a partner stop isn’t on your route.
  • Flex gives a credit line without a personal guarantee, and both cards report to Experian to help build business credit.
  • IFTA reporting and accounting export are included.

What to watch

  • The 42¢ average only applies at AtoB’s partner stations; off-network fills get no stated discount.
  • Flex costs $15 a month even for one card, and needs 3 months of revenue proof.
  • AtoB’s own page lists two different late-fee figures (see below). Read your card agreement.
  • Its stated average (42¢) is lower than TCS (49¢) and OTR (50¢), which are network cards.

AtoB Unlimited vs AtoB Flex

For one truck, Unlimited is the cheaper card: $71 in year one ($35 setup plus 12 × $3) versus $215 for Flex ($35 plus 12 × $15). Flex only makes sense if you need to fuel on credit while you wait on broker payments. If you factor, check your factor’s fuel advance first; see factoring with fuel advances.

What 42¢ a gallon is worth

Example: 1,500 gallons of diesel a month (about 10,000 miles at 6.7 mpg, our assumption). At AtoB’s stated 42¢ average, that’s about $630 a month if every fill is at a partner stop. On Unlimited, the $3 card fee costs 0.2¢ a gallon; on Flex, $15 costs 1¢ a gallon. The fee matters far less than how many of your fills land in-network, so check AtoB’s station map against your lanes before you sign up. Run the numbers in the cost-per-mile calculator.

Fine print we found

  • Two late-fee figures. AtoB’s comparison table lists a 5% late fee for Flex and 0% for Unlimited. The FAQ on the same page says the late penalty is 3% of the overdue balance, minimum $35. source Ask which applies to your account.
  • Two “up to” discounts. The FAQ says discounts reach up to 84¢/gal on truck diesel; the footnote cites a maximum realized saving of $2.00/gal in H2 2025. The 42¢ average is the number to plan on. source
  • Where discounts apply. AtoB names TA, Petro, TA Express, 7-Eleven, Speedway and RaceTrac among diesel partners. source
  • Fraud protection. AtoB’s owner-operator guide states up to $250,000 in fraud protection, with app-based card unlock and real-time alerts. source

Who AtoB fits, and who should look elsewhere

  • Good fit: owner-operators who fuel at many different brands and want one card that works everywhere; small fleets that want spending controls, telematics checks and IFTA exports; carriers building business credit.
  • Look elsewhere if you want $0 monthly fees (TCS states no monthly fees; the Mudflap app is free with debit or ACH; see AtoB vs Mudflap), you fuel mostly at one truck stop chain where a network card states a deeper average, or you already factor with a company whose fuel card is bundled (for example OTR or Triumph).
